Six questions, zero guesswork

Answer honestly — the beard will thank you.

There are no wrong answers. If you're not sure about your face shape, choose what sounds closest or select "not sure" and the other five questions carry the decision.

Question 1 of 6 0 / 6 answered

What's your face shape?

If you're unsure, stand in front of a mirror, pull your hair back, and look at the widest points of your face.

How dense is your beard?

Think about how full your cheek and jaw coverage grows in, not the very first week of stubble.

How long is your beard now?

Being honest here lets the finder tell you how much longer you'd realistically need to grow into each style.

How much maintenance are you willing to do?

Honesty here is what separates a style you keep from one you shave off in frustration in week five.

What look are you going for?

Pick the single description that matches the impression you want, even if a couple of them tempt you.

How long are you willing to grow it out?

From your current length today, how long are you realistically willing to wait before the style locks in?

Frequently asked

Beard style finder questions, answered.

How do I find the best beard style for my face?
Work from your face shape first: styles that add a point or vertical line help rounder faces, softened shapes help strong square jaws, and oval faces can carry most styles. Then filter by what you can actually maintain and how long you're willing to grow — the Beard Style Finder scores all eight styles against those answers so you can compare them side by side.
Which beard style is best for a round face?
Styles with a downward point or defined chin line — like a ducktail, balbo, goatee or circle beard — visually lengthen a round face. Avoid wide, equally long shapes that add horizontal bulk at the cheeks.
What beard suits a long or oblong face?
Longer (oblong) faces sit between two rules: a long drooping point like a ducktail drags the face out further, while a short, high point (Van Dyke) or a fuller shape that covers the jaw and adds width keeps the proportions balanced. The finder weighs those shapes against your upkeep and patience and shows which one fits.
Can I grow a beard if I have patchy spots?
Yes — choose a style that works around your strongest growth. Stubble is the most forgiving, and styles that concentrate the hair at the chin and mustache (goatee, balbo, Van Dyke) often work well even when the cheeks stay light. Thick, full-coverage styles are the harder ones with uneven growth.
How are the match percentages calculated?
Each answer carries a weight — face shape counts most, followed by maintenance, grow time, density, desired look and current length. Styles that match an answer earn that weight, and the total is shown as a percentage out of 100. The reasons under your top pick show exactly which answers earned points.
How long should I grow before deciding on a style?
Most styles need a minimum of 3–4 weeks of untouched growth before there's enough to shape. If a style you like needs longer than you're willing to wait, the finder tells you — that gap is often the real reason beards get shaved off too early.
